Generality on Rviews Press
Big issues facing science and publishing activities
The future progress of humanity and the healing of our planet depend on the development of scientific discoveries, rethinking and discussing the gathered data to envision new applications, and the culture of actual knowledge promotion every time and everywhere. This is a matter for everybody who received some scientific education. Millions of scientists and researchers around the world are left out the rigorous scientific publishing and discussions due to several factors including but not limited to the general business model of the publishing industry, lack of revenues of the authors, absence of strong scientific education and lack of guidance in improving research materials, inequity between researchers from developed, developing and poor countries, exclusion of non-institutional independent researchers and lack of transparency in the editorial process. In addition, the current roles of the players in the editorial process including that of peer-reviewers are often miss-recognized with total lack of responsibility of some editorial offices. To address this issue and promote a world with high standards of scientific education of the public, everybody with adequate knowledge should be involved in and contribute to the level of their capacity in a fair and transparent manner
Foundation and commitment of Rviews Press
Thus, Rviews Press was founded to contribute to the efforts of promoting new models of publishing, new manner of scientific communication and promotion of efficient public knowledge acquisition. As indicated by the name “Rviews”, it is about “Reviewing” and “Revisiting” the publishing and science development system. Also “R” is suited for Research, Renewed, Revisited, Responsible or Rigorous, “views” for visions for the future of scientific research and discovery reporting.
Rviews Press aims at addressing several problems identified in the current scholarly publishing system and exposed above to allow the involvement of all, inspire the future scientific development and empower the general public with tools and skills to understand as well as contribute to scientific knowledge acquisition.
Rviews Press is committed to a new vision of high standards in scientific publications, promoting a rigorous, responsible, transparent, equitable and fair publishing experience for all scientists around the world including institutional and independent researchers. This might be through improving the evaluation, discussion and communication of discoveries toward a responsible implication of the reviewers and the editors, a total free access to the published materials and the promotion of the scientific education of the general public.
Vision of Rviews Press
The core of our vision is to foster high standard research that is not based on biased paradigms such as publish-o-perish, impact factor glory or unproved authoritative claims. We are convinced that all those biases are counterproductive and constitute part of the biggest challenges we are facing for efficient scientific progress and education. Rviews Press aims to render the high quality-publishing accessible to all scientists no-matter the country of origine, the income or presumable prestige including institutional and independent researchers.
We believe in a free public access to science and knowledge acquired from experimental research. Rviews Press aims at revisiting and providing new vision of the editorial process toward a more responsible engagement and efficient collaboration between the authors, editors and the reviewers. We would like to make the reviewer role economically viable by providing incentives and including the names of the editors and reviewers directly associated with their endorsed articles after anonymous evaluation.
We contribute to developing and providing the research community with a platform of Open Access journals in life science aimed to grow for experts around the world to participate transparently in a responsible publishing of high-quality research data and reports. The main criteria we advocate for publishing are high-quality, rigor, responsibility and fairness. We aim at empowering the society with insights that improve people life and health.
Rviews Press mission
The mission of Rviews Press is to propel responsible visions of science and scientific research, fostering the access of the general public to knowledge and high-quality discoveries. We commit in spreading scientific knowledge and inspiring young scientists to shape the future of science and our healthcare system. The embodiment of vision will be in our nascent journals whose number is aimed to grow to cover all areas of life science research and scientific discovery in general. We rely on strong values that serve as springboard to propel several parts of our activities from the platform development, publishing articles with copyright retained by the authors, persistent identification, long-term digital preservations, efficient distribution of the published materials through modern open networks and inspiring the foundation of new areas of research in science.
Values of Rviews Press
The values of Rviews Press are niched in the promotion of timely, transparent and responsible discussions between researchers, fostering the application of high-quality scientific discoveries and encouraging public education. Our values are inclusive for equal consideration for scientists regardless of the origin, gender, belonging to institutions or independence. We encourage the commitment of independent researchers and the general public in knowledge acquisition as well as spreading. Several initiatives of consortia of international and national research funding agencies are ongoing to promote persistent identification of publications, ethical publishing in science, public education, full and free access to scientific data/documents resulting from research funded by grants, sustainable long-term data preservation, fair indexing to render the published material easily findable and digital archiving.
